Joseph H. Joo, MD

Dr. Joo is an internal medicine physician and faculty at the University of Washington, where he also serves as the Director of the Program on Policy Evaluation and Learning in the Pacific Northwest (PROPEL-PNW). Through the Program, he directs a leading policy unit that applies scholarly and policy expertise and content knowledge in evaluation and scholarship to partner with decision-makers on pressing policy topics. PROPEL-PNW serves as the formal evaluation partner to the Washington Health Care Authority, the largest purchaser of health care services in the state.

 

He is passionate about improving health care delivery systems. To this end, Dr. Joo conducts research with emphasis on health systems topics, including population health interventions to improve care transitions. Previously, he was a core team member at Dell Medical School studying prototypes to improve care coordination and patient engagement upon hospital discharge. He speaks on how health systems care delivery systems can leverage behavioral economic principles to redesign care delivery. â€‹â€‹â€‹
